Abstract

This work starts from reviewing the representation of the territory made by Sarmiento in Facundo [1845], and from the concept of movement, develop how it works for the interpretation of the national reality. The city works in relation to the movement, and it is from there that we can link Sarmiento's perspective with the recreation of the urban territory in the naturalist narrative, to see how the movement operates in it.
