In this article we will analyze two of Juan L. Ortiz’s poetry books, El alba sube (1937) and La rama hacia el este (1940), understanding them as two crucial moments for studying the social aspect present in the representation of the landscape made by the poet. This approach, in which we will try to explore the peculiarities of the social forms expressed in Ortiz’s poetry, that escape from the traditional lines of political poetry, will be based on the articulation of the two books with a series of interviews with Ortiz.
